Frequently asked questions
Is this Table Tennis game free to play?
Yes. Retro Pong is completely free. There is nothing to download or install and no sign-up: open the page and press Start New Game.
How do I play Table Tennis (Retro Pong) on a phone or tablet?
Drag your finger on the court to move your paddle. Tap the Super Shot button under the court to arm a power shot. In 2-player mode the bottom half of the screen controls Player 1 and the top half controls Player 2.
What are the keyboard and mouse controls?
Player 1 uses the mouse or W / S (A / D also work). Player 2 uses the arrow keys. Press Shift (or E) for Player 1's Super Shot and Enter for Player 2's. Press Esc, P or Space to pause.
What is a Super Shot?
Each player gets 3 Super Shots per set. Arm one, and your next paddle hit is returned faster and at a sharper angle. The ball flashes red so everyone can see it coming. Your Super Shots refill at the start of every new set.
What are the scoring rules?
A set is won by the first player to reach 11 points (or 21 in the long format) with a lead of at least 2. At 10-10 the game goes to deuce and play continues until someone leads by 2. The serve changes every 2 points, and after every point at deuce. Matches are best of 3, 5 or 7 sets.
Can I play against a friend on the same device?
Yes. Choose 2 Players in the game mode menu. On a keyboard, Player 1 uses W / S and Player 2 uses the arrow keys. On a touch screen, each player uses their own half of the court.
How hard is the computer opponent?
There are five AI levels. Easy is slow and often misses, Normal reacts quickly but makes occasional mistakes, and Hard tracks the ball closely and uses Super Shots on set point and match point. Super Hard is faster and starts aiming returns away from your paddle. Legend is the toughest: very fast, very accurate, and it plays tactically with frequent Super Shots. Every level can still be beaten.
Who made this game?
